Then: That funny way he'd eat spaghetti, twirling the pasta around his fork with the assistance of a spoon.  “Like the Italians do,” he said.  And you didn't believe him, although it was cute the way he shoveled spaghetti in his mouth and he was mostly successful, with only a trace of marinara on his chin.  

Now: Watching him eat makes you wonder how you ever thought he was cute and if he says, “Like the Italians do,” one more time you're going to rip the fork from his hand and drive it straight into his forehead.
