AMY MORSE

When I found out I was pregnant, we told everybody.  Family, friends, strangers at Starbucks.  Yep, me.  Having a baby.  We learned the news just before Mother’s Day so naturally I got dozens of cards – “May this be the first of many happy Mother’s Days.”  My husband and I lined the cards on the mantel above the fireplace and waited - excited and impatient for the arrival of our baby.

When I had a miscarriage, we told everybody.  I threw away the Mother’s Day cards and thought, even if I get pregnant again, it won’t feel the same.
